Our Adoptees
For more information on horses for adoption please contact us at info@savehorses.com. All horses up for adoption are also available for sponsorship to aid us in care until a suitable adoptee can be found. ( '*' indicates there are more pictures available by clicking on the image.)
Shiloh
Shiloh is a 14-year-old registered Quarter Horse gelding who has "Three Bars" bloodlines. He is very responsive, and has excellent ground manners. He is a bit timid due to past abuse, but he has proven himself to be a great horse since he has learned to trust us. He tends go respond more quickly to females (we imagine his abuser was probably a man) but has been ridden mostly by male volunteers here and has done well. Shiloh will need an adopter who has had prior horse-ownership experience, and is willing to be patient and "take it slow" in the beginning. Shiloh has gained a lot of self-confidence while he has been here, but still needs lots of individual attention and encouragement. Please e-mail us for more information on adopting Shiloh.

Cruise Control
Cruise Control has been adopted to Leonard and Linda S, who also adopted Ginny. Cruise is a happy boy now that he is reunited with Ginny (Ginny and Cruise were a "couple" here at SaveHorses).

Buddy & Lady
Buddy and Lady have both found a new home with Autumn K. and her family in the Northern CA foothills. Autumn and her husband have six children (all under the age of 10). We know they will give Lady and Buddy all the love and attention (and exercise!) they have been missing. Congratulations Autumn K. and her family!

Buster
Recently Adopted - Buster has finally found a great home with Patrick O. It took us a long time to find the perfect partner, but I'm sure Buster would agree that Patrick is the one. Buster, who is usually very suspicious of everything human, let Patrick touch him all over the very first time they met. They are certain to share many great trail rides together.

Tex
Adopted - Tex has been adopted by Steven K. an experienced horseman, who is helping Tex work through some "confidence issues" which arose from past injury. We hear Tex is really doing well.
|
Danny
Adopted - Danny went to a new home in the hills with Paul S. where he will be doing lots of trail riding. Congratulations, Paul!

Missy *
Adopted - Missy has found a wonderful new home with Erica M. who breeds and shows Minis. Missy will have plenty of company! This is Missy and Erica after only two weeks! Amazing!
|
Brutus
Adopted - Brutus is a BLM Mustang / Draft cross. He just turned 6-years-old and is a
big and gentle horse who loves to run through pastures with his new adopter,
Colleen M.

El Paso
Adopted - "El" is a Peruvian Paso who came to us because he was a "woman hater". This
horse is very friendly and affectionate and has been adopted by, guess who,
a woman. Kathryn B.
|
Willie *
Adopted - Willie is a 5-year-old, Thoroughbred/Andalusian cross. He has use of only
one eye due to an untreated puncture wound as a colt. He was gentle-trained
by our volunteer trainer, Richard Aplaca, and has now been adopted by Teresa
D.

Permanent Residents of SaveHorses
The following horses are permanent residents of SaveHorses and are not up for adoption. They are either horses of people within the SaveHorses organization or they are horses we feel need extra care so we are not allowing them to be adopted.

Denver
Need Sponsor - Denver is in great need of a sponsor. Due to back injuries which are typically caused when horses are ridden too young, Denver will have to be a permanent resident of SaveHorses. He can never be ridden and has to be monitored more closely than our other residents. Please help us find him a sponsor.

Cheyenne *
Cheyenne - Our faithful friend, Cheyenne, has made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. Cheyenne began his career as a roping horse and came to us about 12 years ago. Cheyenne gave many novices their very first horseback ride and taught young and old alike of the friendship and bond that forms between human and equine. Cheyenne was a horse that everyone loved and he was our loyal and trusted friend. We will miss you, Cheyenne.
